Pros: This is a really affordable price point for a Cuisinart food processor. If you are not ready for a large capacity food processor or you need a mini processor to help with small tasks, this is the best small food processor on the market today. It is sleek and feels high quality. The power is perfect for its size.
Cons: This is not a replacement for a standard sized food processor. Don’t expect it to grate, or slice. It will chop and puree.

What to Expect
As a miniature food processor, the Cuisinart DLC-2ABC Mini Prep Plus food processor has compact dimensions of 7 inches by 5 inches for the base and a height of 9.25 inches. The company put a bit of effort into appearances by using an Italian design studio to fashion the processor. The result is a 3 pound device that sports a sleek, adaptable style. The brushed chrome finish lets it blend well with all manner of room colors, patterns, or decor. The product includes the follow parts.Cuisinart DLC-2ABC Mini Prep Plus Food Processor

  • 250 watt motorized base
  • 3-cup mixing bowl
  • Auto-reversible stainless-steel blade
  • Spatula
  • Instruction and recipe book
  • 18-month warranty

Putting It to Work
When not in use, the Mini Prep Plus features a storage recess on the underside of the base for the power cord. This compartment protects the cord while keeping it out the way of everything else. When there’s a job to do, this processor offers two modes. Chopping tasks are performed by the stainless-steel rotating blade’s razor-sharp edge. Pressing the Chop button on the base sends the blade in a counterclockwise direction to slice through just about any kind of food. The blade also possesses a blunt back-edge. When the Grind button is pressed, the blade reverses to pulverize hard materials like small nuts or seeds. With a small profile, this processor has tighter tolerances than a full-size model. This means the gaps between the blade and the bottom and side surfaces of the bowl are quite narrow. Hardly any of the food is missed by the blade. Sometimes, food pieces on top don’t make their way to the blade. The included spatula can be employed for these situations. But the machine’s reverse capability can remedy this problem, too. Putting the blade in reverse helps pull down reluctant chunks of whatever to the bottom. One last feature that puts this device in the running for best small food processor is its pair of ports in the lid. These can be utilized to add liquids while the machine is operating.

Cleaning Up
After the job is done, the Mini Prep Plus food processor is fairly easy to clean. Top components like the lid, bowl, and blade disassemble quickly. They can be hand-washed or put in a dishwasher. The machine base is also designed for thorough cleaning thanks to power buttons that are flush with the module’s surface. There are no grooves for dirt to hide in. With the cord tucked away, the processor can be stored in tight confines.

The Downside
Some reviewers might see this as the best small food processor, but it still has limitations common to all the others. First, it is designed for brief bursts of power. Holding down either button for a prolonged amount of time can burn out the motor. It is also not constructed to handle chunks of food bigger than half an inch in size. Larger-sized pieces have to be whittled down by hand. Since the mixing bowl includes an open shaft in the middle to accommodate the rotating blade, it can never be more than half full with liquids. Otherwise, there is a good probability of leaks. Additionally, at least one Cuisinart food processor review has pointed out that the plastic mixing bowl can get scratched when grinding very hard items. When placing it in the dishwasher, very high drying temperatures might warp the plastic components. On the other hand, it comes with an 18-month warranty that allows for repair or replacement if the unit is defective.

A Good Helpmate
Given that they don’t take up much space, miniature food processors are a welcomed accessory to the kitchen. For anyone with restricted room or who’s not planning on big meals, they’re perfect for automating chopping and grinding chores. A glance at a typical Cuisinart food processor review also shows that they’re a great adjunct to a full-size processor. Not every occasion demands heavy artillery that is going to occupy half the dishwasher afterwards.
